Workshop made possible through the support of the the Goethe-Institut Libanon & NPN-Nationales Performance Netz

The workshop consists of two parts, dealing with Moritz Ostruschnjak’s choreographically methods of copy & paste, cut &  mix, that combines extremely heterogeneous movement materials. "The copy & paste button will become our leitmotif. We will be taking on the present-day dictate of copying and moving from being an inventor to becoming a thief. Taken from the happy hunting grounds of the World Wide Web, every movement, every sound, every image will be a possible prey for us. From contemporary choreography to cheerleading, from the video game Fortnite to shampoo commercials, from viral dance moves to the globally marketed pose of Michelangelo's David.“ (Moritz Ostruschnjak)

PART 1 Warm-up, followed by the participants learning a short sequence of Moritz Ostruschnjaks piece TANZANNWEISUNGEN, which works choreographically with an extremely diverse canon of movement (youth culture, classic ballet, ballroom dancing, sports etc) in rapid succession

PART 2  The participants will create their own short movement phrase based on Moritz Ostruschnjaks method copy & paste, cut &  mix with which TANZANNWEISUNGEN as well as other Ostruschnjak works was created.

Moritz Ostruschnjak

In 2020, he was awarded the City of Munich's Dance Promotion Award for his artistic work. Bringing a strong, dynamic, and fresh physicality into the German dance scene and framing it with his own way of political and social sarcasm. Moritz Ostruschnjak is without doubt one of the rising choreographers in Germany today. He developed his interest in contemporary dance through breakdancing. He studied at Iwanson International in Munich and with Maurice Béjart in Lausanne. This was followed by engagements as a dancer at home and abroad. He has been working as a freelance choreographer in Munich since 2013 and has created a total of nine productions of his own, most recently "Rabbit Hole" in 2023. His pieces have been shown at numerous European festivals and have been selected three times for the TANZPLATTFORM DEUTSCHLAND. In addition to his own productions, he also creates commissioned works, including the premiere of "TRAILER PARK" for the Tanzmainz Ensemble in 2023.
