Duration 19’

Double bill with Tanween

Performance made possible with the support of the British Council Lebanon

In this work, Dalia Khalife sets her physical movements to the backdrop of her life-sized (sweaty) digital avatar, raising questions on the boundaries and liminal space between the human form and its simulation. The performance ties itself to her Beirut based project exploring “sweat” as a socio-political and paradoxical condition, set against the backdrop of Lebanon's recent economic collapse. It weaves a choreographic language from a bodily archive and contemplates how the body encapsulates the intensity of experiences like ecstasy, abjection, elation, and grief.

Dalia Khalife

Dalia Khalife is a hybrid ; a performer/dancer, a multidisciplinary artist, and a scenographer based in Beirut. She examines psycho-physiological happenings within power structures, social events, and rituals, and their theatricality. She looks at the pivotal moment of rupture, the delicate “fine line”, the liminal space in between, revealing themselves as paradoxes and satirical contradictions, as entry points to a deeper understanding. She has performed in Lebanon, Italy, South Korea, Belgium and The Netherlands, and the UAE.
