In this movie, Joseph Simon created a third culture space for himself and three brilliant bboys; Conni, Kid Colombia and Tawfiq: “This is a pilot project for a series of encounters between Ballet and other dance cultures. This is part of my larger body of work “ballet fantasies” in which I search for alternative forms and identities for ballet through intercultural dance encounters. Inspired by sociology and cultural studies, I call these spaces of encounter and mutual affect “Third culture spaces”. They are a liminal space that emerges from the interaction between the different values, aesthetics and philosophies of the cultures behind the dances.
